  WHAT HAPPENED?

  In 2005, as the club neared Premier League glory in his first season in charge, Chelsea filed a trademark, allowing them to use Mourinho's name on various pieces of merchandise, such as t-shirts, mugs, and, per the , lingerie, should they have so wished.

  THE EXPLANATION

  The trademark is poised to expire on Friday and, while Chelsea have been notified of the fact they can renew it, they do not have any plans to do so. Mourinho has had two spells at Chelsea in total, but they are now moving forward with Enzo Maresca in the dugout.

• DID YOU KNOW?

  Along with Mourinho's name, Chelsea also trademarked his signature. That expires in November, but before then, the Blues will retain ownership for merchandising purposes. They are unlikely to renew that licence, however.
